Are these original DVD's? Good condition? Would you consider meeting to pick up instead of shipping them???

Good condition, and local pick-up is allowed. Says so right there in the listing.

originals or copies?

Originals, most in very good condition.

A few have light to moderate scratches, but you can remove them with special polishers. I use plastic polish from a hobby shop if I have trouble with mine; a light coat, applied with the fingers, then lightly rub from the EDGE TO CENTER and back - NEVER around in circles, as that may ruin the disc!

Some brands of toothpaste have enough abrasive to remove light scratches on plastic, without leaving any marks that you polished it!

That would defeat the purpose of a "mystery", wouldn't it?

Turtle Wax works great too and you don't have to worry about ruining the disc.

Any mild abrasive should work; the critical thing is HOW to polish it. You MUST polish from center to edge; if you polish in circles, you'll create small scratches from the big ones (that's the idea), but they're following the same path as the data tracks, and the DVD player can't track properly. If you look at the commercial polishers, they all polish at right-angles to the data tracks.

Are they newer or older films or mixed? I am not asking for titles, but if they are all very old titles, I don't think I'd be as interested. Also, are they indie type films or big budget type films?

They are newer, with some big budget and some B-grade movies. A good mix. You'll find something in here to like!

Yeah I bought a DVD cleaner once and it spun the cleaning pad in circles over the surface of the dvd. Scratched the disk to hell.

Cheap ones do that. The best ones (if you're risking a $20 disc, buy the $20 cleaner) polish at right angles. Check out the Digital Innovations SkipDr Premier Disc Repair System; you can see how the cleaning pads move from center to edge. That one is $40, but can repair a LOT of discs, and will do it better than the manual-crank clam-shell types. The cleaning solution is critical as well; it must be a MILD abrasive, and there ARE types made specifically for plastic.

I use Happich Simichrome polish for a lot of things. As the name implies, it's designed to polish chrome, and do so without leaving thousands of tiny scratches. I've used it on DVDs with some success (depending on the degree of damage to the disc).
