The listing, One of the coolest auctions ever! WWII Rations Books and Letter has ended.
Well, if this is not the coolest thing ever, it's one of the coolest for sure! :)
You are bidding on a piece of U.S. History. The lot includes 3 ration books from the Governments first issue (Book 1), 3 ration books from the Governments second issue (Book 2) and a letter. The ration books have been used. 2 of the Book 1 rations have 13 stamps left (originally 28 when issued). One of the Book 2 rations has 1 stamp left.
The books have the personal information of a young family. One book is a 22 year old male (husband), one is a 22 year old female (wife) and 1 is for a 19 day old child (daughter). Each family members book has the persons name, address, height, weight, hair color, eye color, age, issue date and more.
The letter is dated Decemeber 23rd 1941 and is from the husbands Grandfather. The letter is congratulating him on his new marriage and hopes that he doesn't have to go to war. It's from about 6 months prior to the rations being issued.
If you are into genealogy, antique collecting, military items, history or just want something REALLY cool, this is the item for you. The books with the letter are incredible and make you feel a part of what was going on. Amazing time in history. You had to use a stamp to buy certain items in stores. No stamp, no dice! When issued they asked how much sugar you had in your house. If you had none, you got the whole book. If you had any, they tore out stamps to make up for the fact that you had some already. I could go on forever with info about these. Time for someone else to have fun with them.
Good Luck!
