You screw them together, wipe cooking spray into them with a paper towel, then crack the egg into them. Then boil them according to the directions that I will send also. They work well and turn out just like a normal hard boiled egg, so I am sure that they will work for egg salad. My daughter likes to peal the egg shells off her eggs so it didn't work for us.
