I do the same. I would find some at Walmart thinking that 7 dollars was a good deal only to go dollar general and they are cheaper. Then I got these lights that look icicles. I really didn't need them because I had six sets already. Your cat ones sound so cute

Haha...Sounds like me sometimes, but only if it is the last one & really cool ☺ I always find cool ones in Ikea, Lowe's, or 2nd hand stores & most times for under $3
I got lucky with Ikea & found all these Crystal looking sets to attach to the string lights. I also found holly, stars, & I think I have hearts too..Lol.. the luck was finding them for $1 or $2 ☃️

The monkey has a red clip to attach to something like a car seat ☺ It shakes when you pull the cord, & obviously stops when it runs out. ❤ I really want an elf on the shelf :( but they are a tad-bit to pricey for me.
My m♡m started the pickle ornament thing a few years ago "Odd❣" Lol.. ❤ My fondest memory was always watching my m♡m wrap the lights perfectly on each branch as she fluffed the *Fake Tree <- That tree was around for 20 years before it was put to rest, lol..

We do it too , I still use a fake tree about 6 feet high , and I try to fluff it out and spray it so it smells real , my husband will make sure the tinsel is all neat and drapes over a bit , my youngest will put ornaments any where , I rearrange it if it looks off , we hade a mild winter last year I hope we have that again

☺Sounds like you guys have lots of fun decorating.
My m♡m would let us help with ornaments, & she would rearrange them too, lol.. If you ever get sick of spraying your tree *You can always use glass ball ornaments & put a potpourri in it > Or dry pine cones & put an oil on it (wood releases smell wonderfully) & the heat from the lights will warm up the ornament & release more pretty smells ☺ I haven't put up a tree in 7 years, lol.. I had a cat back then who liked breaking my krinkle ornaments :( It crushed me. This year we are buying a small potted one so I can put oil lamp candle looking lights on it ❄ I'm Excited❣☃️

So many random stores, & sales ☺ ⭐Clearances bring me tears of joy, lol.. I'm still waiting to hang my string of black cat ones * they are sorta 3D with whiskers, I found them in a thrift store for cheap, & I had never seen any like it before. Needless to say I have a tote a lights, & I always get that look "Seriously❣More Lights❣" LOL

We do , those sounds like some really good ideas , I might have to try them , I do get the pine sticks , they are ok , I do have pine cones all over and I spray those with apple cinnamon, I have to be carful with glass ornaments, every time someone turned on the lights bulbs would break

:/ Eekkk...Broken bulbs would be no good. I would use an oil on the pinecones, & put one in my car ☺
The potpourri trick I learned when I was 12, My friend's mom had us help her stuff large clear ones. Ofcourse her house was big enough for a 10' tree, lol... A whole lotta tree ☃️

When I used to live up by the Canadian border, we would get snow 5+ feet deep, lol.. & it stuck around until March or April. Friends didn't believe us because their snow was gone by that time. We'd have to take a picture to convince them that visiting wasn't worth the drive yet, lol... the drive from the city was less than 2 hours.
