Questions & Comments
is this glass? you use glass in the description but call it a ruby confused.
THE BOX these items come out of READS GLASS CARBUNCLES & also refers to the color of them.Very sorry if anyone has beeb confused or misled. it surely was not my intintion.
The picture of this stone is not very good.It does not show the full color. This is a very bright RED Stone. This is a Vintage Stone & has been in storage for many years.
Besides the term carbuncle having not been used by gemologists for a *long* time, it usually meant a red stone (such as a garnet, rarely a ruby), and never meant glass. I think that's why jamslio99 is as confused as I am. In present times, a carbuncle is an infected hair follicle.
I'm not a gemologist. These GLASS CARBUNCLES have been in storage for many years. The writing on the boxes was put there by the manufacture. The man that these items belonged to had passed away many years ago & his wife locked everything up & left it sit.He had a specialty buisiness in CHICAGO,ILLINOIS Years ago.
l don't know what else to call it.I put the word GLASS down because thats what they are.I wrote it out just like it was on the box. These have been in storage for many years. As I said I don't know what else to call them.if you have a sugestion please let me know.
Just trying to get it cleared up. So you know, if you list more, a "stone" refers to a natural (or sometimes professionally lab-grown) gemstone. Glass is glass. A piece of flat jewelry glass like that is referred to as a cabochon.
