Cut and Polished Ammonite (3) - Healing
This is an agatized ammonite fossil which has been cut in half and polished to reveal all of the detail of the inner chambers. It's a real cool fossil that would make a great gift or could even be used to make jewelry.
You will receive this one half of a shell. This Photo is the actual piece you will receive.
These ammonites are approximately 140 million years old and collected from the Majunga Basin of Madagascar. Ammonites were predatory mollusks that resembled a squid with a shell. These cephalopods had eyes, tentacles, and spiral shells. They are more closely related to a living octopus, though the shells resemble that of a nautilus. Ammonites appeared in the fossil record about 240 million years ago and they barely survived several major extinction events. The last lineages disappeared 65 million years ago at the end of the Cretaceous.
