Up for auction is the Rev. Watkins' House #AH45 in the series collection.
It was the greatest day of Rev. Watkins' life: That Sunday afternoon when his congregation took the Watkins family on a picnic - and ended up leading them into their brand new home! The Reverend and his wife, Ellen, had been perfectly content in the tiny wooden cottage they'd been given on arrival at Liberty Falls. First Prairie Church. But oh, the glories of this cozy Victorian three-story with its porches and expansive parlor...and the gratification of knowing his parishioners wanted him and his family to have it !
Scores of secret congregational meetings had been arranged to ensure that the home would be built with all the modern conveniences: The Reverend's flock worried about him living in a wooden structure - especially during the dry fire season in the High Country. The wanted him to know how much they appreciated his spiritual guidance, his calming presence, and his ability to bring them God's work - just like back home - even in the wilderness. As soon as the Watkins' moved in, their parishioners, begun to enjoy the fruits of their kindness. The Reverend and his wife held an open house most every Sunday afternoon with home - made treats, music, poetry readings, and other quiet Sabbath pursuits !
