Up for auction is the Daily News Office & Plant #AH43 in the series collection.
Founded in 1872 by Oliver Cummings, The Liberty Falls Daily News was the primary source of information on the news, politics and issues in this expanding community for the next one hundred years. Oliver had always wanted to be a " newspaper man ", ever since he was a young boy back in Centerville, Ohio. As he grew up, he began his career by delivering the Centerville Gazette to its 219 homes. Then he moved up to a position as a cub reporter, and eventually, he became the paper's editor.
After moving with his family to Liberty Falls, his dream of a lifetime was fulfilled with the establishment of the Daily News. At first, there was not a great deal to report from these parts.
But soon Oliver's staff would cover the great mine disaster, the four-week trial of Jimmy Olson for cattle rustling and eventually the heated race for town mayor and town council. At $ 0.02 cents an issue, the Daily News provided an ongoing chronicle of everything you needed and wanted to know about Liberty Falls.
