White, can be used with one hand. Needs 2 triple A batteries to heat up. I've used mine for 2 years and never a problem. Heats in minutes. You can use it before you put your mascara on or after. I prefer before, makes lashes look so much better. You just turn it on, when its heated bring it to your lasthes and push up the tab to curl.

is it like the scissor looking ones or the stick looking one?

It is nothing like the scissor looking one. I do not know what the stick one looks like. This one is white plastic 11/2 inches wide by 51/4 inches long. There is a little black piece you use to push it up to close so you can curl the lashes. I found it better then the regular scissor one.
