The listing, Mother-of-Pearl Old Picture has ended.

this is a very unique piece. it is about 5 x 4, has a woodgrain and black frame, and a wood back w/easel. it is of a japanese man pulling a cart with a couple riding, holding an umbrella. this is not a photo or a painting, it is a black background with the picture made out of a thin layer of mother of pearl. I have not seen anything like this before. if any of our Listia friends has any info on this type of item, maybe they would enlighten us? it is a really neat item. just to let all know, there is some small scratches on the top of the frame, tried to photograph it so all could see. thanks for looking, and happy bidding!!

Are there any markings or a makers name, stamp, anything on this item?

there is nothing on it. I removed the wood back, looked inside, and looked all around the edges, and I cant find any marks at all.

I happened to find this little goodie at a goodwill store, so unfortunately I know nothing about its history... and with no markings on it, I couldnt get any background info...sorry :(
