Description

The listing, Ivory Carved Fish Pendant on a Silver Chain has ended.

This is for a carved ivory fish pendant on a 16" silver chain.

There are no markings on this, so therefore, i will be describing them as gold tone or silver tone only.

I have a large lot of my mom's jewelry due to her passing that i will be giving away. The ages are unknown, she was 92 when she passed away and I do not know how long she had them, but i know she would rather have them be enjoyed rather then sitting around collecting dust. It will be like keeping her alive all across the US.

I will ship in an envelope with bubble wrap and delivery confirmation.

I accept paypal and money orders for shipping payment, hidding cash can be sent but this is not recommended.

If the bid gets over 3000 or if you use the gin (if available) shipping will be free. i will ship only to the US. If shipping payment is not made within 7 days from the end of the auction I will relist the auction and I will keep the credits.

Please read all of the discription thoroughly. Ask questions before bidding. I will combine shipping on multiple auctions won at the same time.

Shipping fee and shipping address is due withn 7 days of the end of the auction. If not received I will relist item(s) and keep the credits.

Thank you for looking and good luck!

Good question. I have seen ivory and this looks like the ivory that i seen. So i believe it is ivory. Do you know a way to tell if it is ivory or not for sure?

ivory will have a grain line like the rings of a tree. bone will have tiny pits in it. plastic may imitate either, but it will be smooth, with no texture you can feel. and a lighter weight.

If you look at the sides (the sizes are about 1/16 of an inch, kind of hard to see) one looks like it can possibly have lines and the other looks like a couple of pits. but it has a smooth back. I am still unsure so I will give it away as plastic only because i cannot be absolutly sure it is not.

on the wide part of the design, are there any wavy lines or other indications that look like a tree ring? the lines are usually no more than i/4 inch apart, so even a 4mm bead will show the rings. are there any places that look like pits? these can be small, as though a needle has been stuck in the material. it would be worth it in possible bids to know the material; otherwise bidders will bid as though it is plastic.

Thank you for the information. I took somemore pictures and had my husband look at it. If you hold it in the light and tilt it alittle, you can see lines on the smooth surface, kind of irridecent looking. And there are a couple of what looks like a pin hole on the side I am not sure how the photos will come out, but I will add them to the listing if I can. Thanks for the information.

The irridescent look tells me this is mother-of-pearl.

If you say it has pits then it may be man made material like marble or similar material as natural ivory won't have pits.
If it were real ivory then you would still have the question as to from what type of animal it came from - walrus, elephant, etc.... or it could even vegetable ivory!

I hope this helps!
