Description

The listing, Vintage Italian Crucifix Marked Italy has ended.

Something of a conundrum. This is a beautiful, very detailed crucifix. It is clearly marked 'Italy' however it is not sterling silver.

Usually, if it was imported from Italy it will be real silver, unless ...it's a mass produced tourist item.

The way the bottom is cut, as if it was sliced off a running assembly makes me think it's probably something for tourists.

In and of itself, that's not special, however (and I'm speculating) it seems likely that it would be sold to visitors at or near the religious center of Catholicism.

Since I'm fairly sure Vatican City doesn't sell things (that whole thing about Jesus turning over the money tables), I think it probably originated in Rome.

At any rate, the story sounds good. About 2" long.

I can't tell....does it have a loop at the top so it can be made into a necklace?

@ladyregina You do realize you're winning still, right? The bid will only show as high as other people have bid. You have a silent bid (which I recommend you don't share with everyone) and as others bid, it will go up to that amount until you are outbid, if you are. It is the same on eBay, if the price is .99 to start and I bid $5.00, it's still going to say .99. Wow, that sounded confusing to me, but I hope you understand.
