Hardy perennial native to prairies, but is very easy grow in savannas and meadows. Drought tolerant. Requires full sun, or its flower stalk will twist to seek the sunlight. Blooms around mid-summer or late summer.

Direct sow; germinate easily. Seedling looks like grass.
