I've had 1 of these & used it often..to check on most anything we leave plugged in that draws power.
U may be surprised when u compare costs & find an "energy vampire" u never knew was costing so much money to run.
Sometimes it's cheaper to replace an old appliance that is eating up power than keep it & pay extra electricity.  

★ One piece unit..
— Just plug the Kill A Watt into ur wall first
— Then plug ur device (u want to check) into the top of the Kill A Watt

Leave ur device & Kill A Watt unit plugged in for several days...
— Write down ur KWH & the time duration for each device u check.
— Unplug from current device & move on to the next device (it resets when u unplug it).

With the data you collect...
U can check other devices to see how they compare (such as 2 window fans, 2 a/c s, 2 fridges).
For example, u may discover that ur "small convenient" refrigerator costs about as much as ur big family refrigerator!
It may be costing u $10 a mnt to keep a 6 pack of beer cold -- is it worth it?
1 window fan may be costing you $5 a mnt another $15 -- u learn it may be time to replace that energy hungry fan now!
