Rock 'Til You Drop: The Decline from Rebellion to Nostalgia
by John Strausbaugh
Strausbaugh reflects acidly on a generation that started out as self-anointed world changers and ended up as short-changers of the ideals that were the genesis of their art. Photos.
Hardcover | 2001 | 259 pages
REVIEW by King Dinösaur
John Strausbaugh is the best rock critic since Lester Bangs. He is unflinching in his honest assessment of "Boomer Generation" rock and the total takeover of rock music by conglomerates and corporations. Look out Jann Wenner, Mick Jagger & Keith Richards, Ben & Jerry, Johnny Rotten, Bruce Springsteen and practically everyone else! Strausbaugh is even better and more bitterly accurate in his (informed) opinions than Chuck Klosterman, who came raging out of the chute with "Fargo Rock City" but quickly lost steam.
Any true fan of rock 'n' roll should pick this book up and have all your safe and sanitary notions challenged.
