Description

The listing, ANCIENT CONSTANTINE ERA ROMAN COIN has ended.

This auction is for an ancient Roman bronze coin from the Constantine Era. This coin has pretty decent detail and with more cleaning, it could show you more. There is visible writing on both sides.

I just bought this. Oh well, yeah, just for Listia! lol I haven't even opened this yet since I received it.

The Lincoln Penny on the picture is not included. It's only for visual purpose.

Always watch out for my auctions. You might find more valuable stuff than the ones I posted. I haven't decided yet if I am going to give away my gold & silver bullion and natural ruby stone as well as other collectible coins. lol Don't think I have many of these, because I am just a poor girl! I only have very few, but I love to share! Most especially to good boy and girl members of Listia! (^-^)
Questions & Comments

i looked through all the books i had on hand including "coins of the romans relating to great britian" by john akerman. I didn't see anything that looked like this one. I'll do some more digging later, but it would help if you could tell me even 3 or 4 letters on the coin.

Sure! I know how good you are on that! Dang, I still remember my early days here on Listia and I see your comments everywhere -- adjudicating, scrutinizing, giving constructive criticizing at others' items. And one of those people was me! lol. Just go ahead, I would love to know that. And sooner or later, I'll add more Roman Coins. If I found a Biblical coins from 300 AD (which is tough to find and more expensive), I might share it here on Listia.

Have fun Listia Members!

P.S.: Try to search under Constantine I or II. I have one of the Constantine coin from 345 AD, darn, it took me one whole day to find what Empire that coin was belong! But I know, I couldn't sleep at night if I can't find the answer. lol

I did a search for it just now, and the closest I've found so far, judging by the visible reference points is this one:

I'm still looking, though. ;)

Thank you for the website. Yes, this is a Constantine coin. I just don't know what era of Constantine because there is I and II. And I think more? I haven't researched much about this coin yet because I've done a research to one Roman Coin, and it took me 1 whole day to find that out. So, I'll let the winner do his/her assignment. lol

any kind of certificate of authernticity or anything like that?

I have few collections of Roman and Biblical coins. Only few have certificate of authenticity, but of course, I won't give those away. These types of coins are hard to find and kinda expensive. The coins I have would be my heirlooms for my future kids. This one I posted here, I bought few pieces of those from one seller. It is authentic. I will not buy fakes, and if found fake, you can return it. I still have warranty left from the seller. Thanks for looking and good luck.

without being certified ancient coins are very very commonly and easily faked. Mostly consisting of "new" fakes such as casted Chinese coins. However this piece is rather common and to my understanding no counterfeits have been found
I personally wouldn't invest in ancient coins because the value is completely suggestive to the market rather than any guidelines for prices. It is completely dependent on what people are willing to pay. A nice silver or gold piece certified by 1-3 independent companies can pull 3-300k at auction. I saw a nice piece go for 26500 at auction.
It is a small community of numismatics that cherishes these coins. If your interested i would pursue and join these online communities. They can help fact find and help confirm authenticity to some degree.

lol i'll try to put it into bullets
-Ancient coins are a common target for forgery
- due to popularity and
-very limited knowledge of the coins (as far as the general public)
Try doing some searches for ancient coins i am not a collector so i don't have all the links
