"Breakthrough of armored boats to the pier of Fujin.

On the morning of August 11, 1945, armored Soviet naval boats under the command of officers N.M. Ivanchuk, V.M. Kalinin, I.P. Smirnov, K.N. Sokolnikov, D.A. Fomin and Yu. V. Shemet with an assault company on board under the cover of the a veil of artillery fire of ships at full speed broke through to the piers of the city of Fujin, quickly moored and landed an assault brigade. The enemy met the landing with the fire of artillery, mortars and machine guns.The Japanese was fiercely resisted.
The Soviet armored boats fired from small distances, suppressing the enemy's firing points on the embankment.
Despite the fierce resistance of the enemy, the assault brigade captured a small bridgehead adjacent to the water's edge. Following it, the 3rd battalion of the 364th Infantry Regiment was landed from the monitor "Sun Yat-sen" (commander - Captain 3rd Rank V.D. Korner). This Soviet marine "paratroopers" by 9.00 am mastered the coastal strip of the landing site and began to advance into the depth of the enemy's defense.

Yes, this card uses the real picture "Landing of the Marines" by Paint-artist GA Sotskov.
He was born in 1925 in Moscow. In 1953 he graduated from the Art School "Of Memory in 1905". In 1958 he graduated from the Polygraphic Institute. Full member of the Russian Geographical Society of the Russian Academy of Sciences. In 1997 he was elected Honorary Academician of the Moscow Economic University and he was awarded the Academic Star of the World. In 2002, he was awarded the title of full member of the Petrovsky Academy of Sciences and Arts. The works are kept in many Russian museums and abroad.
In 2006, the National Committee of Public Awards of the Russian Federation "for outstanding services and a great personal contribution to the development and strengthening of the Russian state" awarded him the Order of Peter the Great of the First degree. In 2009, the President of the Russian Federation, G.A. Sotskov was awarded the title of "People's Paint-artist of Russia". The artist continues to work actively, in 2009 an album "Our Volga" was published with illustrations of paintings by G.A. Sotskov, dedicated to the great Russian river. He died on March 25, 2011 at the 87th year of his life.
