These atones are really the best for making great pizza and calzones! I have 2 myself and would not want to be without one!
Here are directions from the website for it:

Instructions
1 Wash the baking stone in warm water only prior to first use. Detergents and soap particulates can clog the stone's porous surface.
2 Coat the baking stone with a thin layer of cooking oil prior to the first four or five uses. Fats polymerize and fill the porous surface of the baking stone, creating a non-stick surface over time.
3 Defrost foods prior to placing them on the stone for cooking. Cooking frozen food creates excess steam from the melting ice crystals, lowers the overall temperature of the stone and slows cooking times.
4 Allow the stone to heat up in tandem with the food. Do not preheat the stone.
5 Use the baking stone at temperatures below 450 degrees F. The probability of cracking increases at temperatures over 450 degrees.
6 Allow the stone to cool gradually after use. Immersing the stone in water while hot creates steam that prompts fracture and breakage.
7 Clean the stone after use with warm water and a food scraper. Washing in soap removes the naturally occurring non-stick coating.

Happy to help someone make great pizza and use this cool tool to the best it can be!

thanks for a quick response. some of the things i've shipped to people, in the past, have come up in a mess or broken, so i wanted to pass along that information to you. i now wrap things very very carefully and don't leave it to chance.
