The Black Swan motif has a long history in decorative American pottery. Popularized in the 50's and 60's by companies such as Royal Haegar and McCoy, this elegant figure was found in homes as planters, lamps, candle holders, vases, and figurines.

Our StoryBook Ceramics Black Swan can be used as a centerpiece, serving dish, or shallow vase and is sure to be noticed at your next gathering. Finished in a gorgeous black ice metallic sheen glaze, the swan shimmers with soft gold highlights and is stunning by candlelight.

The Black Swan measures 10 inches long, 6 inches wide, and nearly 7 inches tall and features a cork bottom to prevent marring of your table or sideboard.

I'm glad you like it. It's a difficult piece to photograph. The glaze is very light reactive, and that wreaks havoc with a camera flash. It really is even more attractive in person.

have black lion & black pather to match the swan they were my grandmother's
she passed them 2 me when she passed & noone else wanted them. they sit in
my bed room now

You're fortunate no one else realized their increasing value. Many of these mid-century designs are only becoming more popular and valuable as time goes on. You will have a couple of true heirlooms to pass on.

Thanks. Our studio is at www.storybookceramics.com, where we offer this swan, and about 450 other designs. Sometimes, for whatever reason, we end up with extras, and I usually end up listing them here, since we don't have a whole lot of stock space.
