There is a tag on the bottom that was dated 9-05 don't know if that had anything to do with the age of the item. It was something about meeting a compliance law

OMG I am so sorry. I just reread that message and I sounded so rude. I am not trying to downplay this machine. These are great machines and both my girls had one when they were little. They are just older now and want one that puts the words on the screen. I am so sorry if I sounded like I was being mean. I wasn't intending that at all.
