According to the Littleton Coin Co. - The 1865 Nickel Three-Cent piece is the first 3 cent coin struck in a copper/nickel alloy. Issued the same year the Civil War ended and Lincoln was assassinated. This 1865 three-cent piece not only features a different alloy, but also features a new design - the Liberty Head. The nickel three-cent piece was issued for 25 years from 1865-1889. This coin is the first of the series.

Is this authentic or is it a replica? It looks too good for something that old...
It's authentic. It was my late fathers. My mom thinks he got it from his father. It has just been tucked away all these years in a can with some other great coins. This is the only one my mom would let me put on here. Enjoy!
