The listing, Hard Drive - 3.5" 160GB Sata has ended.
Western Digital 160GB sata drive.
(3.5" - This is a desktop drive, not laptop!)
This drive was pulled directly from my TiVo as part of an upgrade. The drive was used for about 2 years in a DVR, as such it was run pretty much 24/7 during that time.
I've reformatted the drive for NTFS and ran S.M.A.R.T. diagnostics (using HDDScan software) on the drive. All the parameters come out as "green" with the exception of "199: UltraDA CRC Errors," which is above the threshold. According to wikipedia this is a non-critical error, "The number of errors in data transfer via the interface cable as determined by the ICRC (Interface Cyclic Redundancy Check)."
Based on the age and S.M.A.R.T. warning, I would not recommend this as a primary drive on a machine. It is probably best as a secondary drive or in an external USB enclosure.
