Minolta cameras are usually not compatible with Nikon bodies. The mounts are different.
Ebay and Craigs list usually have a lot of lens for the Nikon at really good prices.

I've been doing photography for awhile and purchased this from a dealer a few years back. The best place I've found to get lenses are on Craigs list and also at flea markets. There is also a group through Yahoo that's called Freecycle. It's an online community where people who no longer need items offer them to other people who could usre them to keep items from ending up in our landfills. You can also post on there if you need something specific and chances are someone might have a camera and lenses lying around that they no longer use or want. Good luck on your search!

My daughter wanted to go to school for photography and she needs an "SLR" camera. Do you think this would be appropriate?

This would be an excellent choice for a beginner. She would be able to get the feel of using a SLR camera with the convenience of point and shoot. Photography has always been my passion and it is a great form of self expression.Good luck to your daughter and thanks for looking. :-)

How many mp and whats the zoom?

Sorry but this is old school.lol No megapixels...just good old 35 mm film and the zoom depends on what type of lens you use.

Wow somebody asked how many mega pixels. LOL. I've thinking about buying my wife an SLR. I think a 35mm camera would be a perfect starter camera. I've gotten her 5 point and shoot digitals in the last three years. It's time to move her up to the real world of photography.

LoL...I know...makes me think of one of the kids in a kindergarten class I was teaching library skills to and as I brought out a record to play he yelled, "Wow, that's the biggest cd I've ever seen!!!" I've been an avid photographer for a long time and no matter how technologically stupendous they make the new digital SLR camera, it takes a lot of the fun out of it for me. It's an art judging light and shadows on how the film will react to it! I still have a darkroom and do most of my own developing. This would make a great starter camera for your wife and she would be able to work her way up with this. Good luck to you and thank you for the great comment.

Actually, the first phot ois one I took. It was late when I was posting and I was getting fussy over the way the ones I took looked so I just added these. I will be happy to add more of my own.
