I was curious, so I went to ask.com and found this info on porcelain. " Porcelain is a ceramic material made by heating raw materials, generally including clay in the form of kaolin, in a kiln to temperatures between 1,200 °C (2,192 °F) and 1,400 °C (2,552 °F). The toughness, strength, and translucence of porcelain arise mainly from the formation of glass and the mineral mullite within the fired body at these high temperatures." I hope I win this. I'm an artist and really like porcelain palettes. Great item!
BTW, I took ceramic classes for 6 years and I made all kinds of ceramic vases and dishes, etc. First, I scraped the seams then sanded them until they were smooth, then painted the item with a glaze and then it was fired in a kiln. I had a lot of fun in this class.
