The listing, 2 small bottles of gemstone chips has ended.

For this auction, I have 2 small bottles of gemstone chips. If you have ever visited the Smoky Mountains and went to the souvenir shops, these bottles will look familiar. I used to make necklaces out of them. The bigger bottle is 2" tall and 3/4" round. The smaller bottle is 1 11/16" tall and 7/16" round. The gemstones are amethyst, rose quartz, quartz, carnelian, garnet, obsidian, jasper, agate, serpentine, unakite, turquoise and peridot and some I can't name.

I love the stones, but I am most interested in the bottles. Where do you find them? I like to dry my own herbs and bottles like that would be great for ground up spices! I am having the hardest time finding them here in Missouri.

I had ordered over 100 of the bigger bottles years ago to make necklaces. I still have about 75! So I am listing a dozen at a time here and selling them on ebay. Be on the lookout for them!

How did you make jewelry out of these? Did you wire wrap them?

I used wire to put a ring of beads around the top right below the lip. I made a bail out of the same wire and put the whole thing on a cord. I also did beadweaving around the bottle, added fringe and a beaded cord. Next time I list some of these bottles, I will put photos up of what I did with them. I am also going to list some of the finished necklaces for auction. I just got to take pics. ;~)
