Description

The listing, Corn Fiber Yarn - Amaizing from SWTC has ended.

Here we have something a little different - 100% corn fiber yarn! Amaizing from South West Trading Company
in a pretty goldenrod. Unfortunately, I look awful in yellow, so here's a treat for those who don't. ;-)

Yarn made from corn fiber is like cotton in appearance, is breathable, has high wickability and good flame resistance. It also has more resilience and crimp than cotton, making the resulting fabric springier, and perhaps being easier on the hands to knit with. Made from a renewable natural fiber, the raw materials is abundant. It's made by fermenting the simple sugar from the corn plant.
Corn's properties include low odor retention and good moisture management. It has a fluid drape and is easy to care for. Quick drying like soy, it also has demonstrated increased soil release properties in the industry's washing tests, so stains don't set so easily as with cotton.

10 full and unused balls except for a gauge swatch ( see pics) which I shall frog and wash, so the yarn will look and feel and knit up as new.
The manufacturer calls the texture "ribbon chainette". I call it tape yarn. lol Again, see pics for a close up.
Color 161 "goldenrod", dye lot 71006-61
143 yards/1.76 oz per ball, 24 stitches with needles #7 should knit up to about 4".
machine washable and dryable
As always, the yarn will be carefully wrapped and shipped free, priority mail with tracking#, from my smoke free and pet free home.

:-) I bought it thinking I'd knit yoga pants with it, but then chose turquoise bamboo yarn for the project.

Corn fiber is very wickable, which means that moisture travels rapidly along the fiber surface and passes quickly through the fabric. So when you perspire, the moisture doesn't just sit there and feel icky. I gets absorbed but quickly released at the outside. You won't feel sweaty.

You mean like linen, cotton, bamboo? These are all great for hot and humid weather. Living in Texas, I get my fair share of this! lol But so is corn fiber, actually. You might want to google "corn fiber yarn reviews", or similar.
Whatever you decide to bid on, though, best of luck!

I make cowls. Yellow is my favorite color and I do not mind the ribbon look. I always mix textures and can't wait to get my hands on this!!
