The listing, .925 sterling silver & Botswana agate with gemstones pendant has ended.

Set in a beautifully detailed .925 sterling silver mounting is this large, very pretty Botswana agate stone with accent stones of amethyst and rhodolite garnet. Please notice the nice cutout detail on the bale.
Legend has it that amethyst was thought to encourage celibacy ( it was believed to have a sobering effect on drunkards and those overexcited by passion). Leonardo Da Vinci wrote that amethyst was able to dissipate evil thoughts and quicken the intelligence. It was also believed to render people shrewd in business matters, preserve soldiers from harm and assist hunters in capturing wild animals.

Garnet has long been associated with fire and was thought to possess the ability to illuminate the sky at night. Today garnets remain a symbol of faith, truth and light. Excerpt from Grimm's fairy Tales ( Once upon a time an elderly lady came upon an injured bird. Taking the bird home with her, she nursed it back to health until one day it flew away. Although the lady thought she would never see it again, it returned to her house with a garnet that she put by her bedside To her surprise, she awoke every night to see it shining bright as a torch, illuminating the bird's gratitude for her kindness).
