This is for ONE live root of Russian Comfrey. The photo is the mother plant from where this root will be dug.

Comfrey is a bushy perennial, that, like a peony, will die back after the frosts and come up again in the spring. It has large furry leaves and a spike of mauve flowers, which hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies just love. I use it in the compost, too; I cut the comfrey down just after it flowers and it will come right back. The furry leaves add wonderful nitrogen to the mulch. Some years I can get three harvests from it!

Comfrey has long hairy tap roots, and if you leave one hair behind when you move it, it will grow again. Trust me, I know - that's why I've got so much of it ha ha! Plant it where you want it to stay. I've got it in full sun, I've got it in full shade; I can't seem to kill the danged stuff, so give it a try even if you have brown fingers LOL!

You will receive one piece of root, dug from this clump (don't worry, I know it will come back again!). This is for ONE live plant. I promise you the plant is live when I dig it up. The photo is from the parent bush under my crab apple trees. I know this will grow, and I will ship it in a timely fashion, but I do not guarantee that if you leave it in the box for a week and do not tend to it that it will still be alive. Please play fair.

This is the last time I can offer free shipping on these starts. They cost between $3 and $6 to send, and I just can't afford to keep doing it at the moment. Thanks for understanding.

I wouldn't split it upon arrival, no. However. I started out with four plants. I now have 12, and I STILL have enough that I can dig some up and share them. It's a persistent little plant, to say the least! If you are patient with it, you'd be able to get 20+ plants from it, but you have to plant it, let it grow, let it get hardy, then split it, etc. Does that make sense?
