The listing, Rare 1955 Majollika Golliwog (Black Man) Vintage Illustrated Children's Book Mankowitz 1st UK Ed has ended.
This is a hard-to-find and beautifully illustrated small vintage children's book 1st UK Edition that is in very nice condition for the age without typical tears and markings you often see in kids books.
It has a wonderful old story that includes a Golliwog, which I found out meant a "black man" in old stories portrayed as a rag doll, and various animal critters. I was going to say "African-American" but my research shows it wasn't in America only, so just quoting the definition I found.
Wikipedia says this doll was popular from the late 1800s in Europe, N America, and Australia and was an anti-black caricature up until the 1960's civil rights movement in America.
The author was quite well regarded, as was the illustrator. The book is entitled "Majollika and Company," by Wolf Mankowitz, illustrated by Heather Standring, published by Andre Deutsch, 1955.
The contents include Pegleg Squints the Sea-Squirrel, Uncle Borlka and Annie Poppitay, No Supper for Horridhawk.
There are 86 pages and a green cloth hardcover that has some fading/soiling, but in decent shape, and again the inside is very nice and intact.
