This simulated amethyst has been packed away in a box for years, but is still in excellent conditon. Lindenwold Fine Jewelers would have a give-away promotion - you "won" the loose amethyst in a contest, then they made their money off setting them for you.

I did take it to a jeweler for an opinion - it would make a beautiful ring or piece of jewelry - he said that even though it is man-made, it is better than most man-made amethysts he has seen and is beautifully cut, very clear, and 1 carat in weight (he said those are all things you would need to know if you were interested in it).
