Description

The listing, .999 FINE SILVER (31 grams)1998 Christmas Coin with Santa has ended.

This was a Christmas gift from the wonderful elderly lady I work for. I am short on family at Christmas time,, so this beautiful, ".999 Fine Silver" coin is going to be in a drawer for the next...rest of my life... so I am offering it to the Listian Community. Listia asked for Holiday and Seasonal stuff, (and apart a million Mardi Gras Beads, literally 50 pounds, can't Listia them because of HIGH shipping!!I), I only have this coin. I actually have two coins that are both from 1998( the other is a snowman skiing), but I should keep one for sentimental reasons. I have been ripped off and scammed so many times on Listia with "gold" and "silver", 3 silver rings that were NOT!! I have taken as many photos as possible to try to show where, on the back, on three adjoining ribbons, it say, ".999", then "Fine" then "Silver". This is a giant, 31 GRAM, pure silver Christmas Commemorative Coin. My friends husband was a Coin Collector, and I believe he bought these every year for her, as well as ornaments from the Danbury Mint. I could have taken it to my local silver trader and got my Troyan ounce of silver, but it means more than that to me. I would like to convert this beautiful gift of pure this .999 SILVER coin into something I will wear and appreciate!! I hope the Listian community is not too jaded by scammers to realize a great opportunity, when it comes along!! My friend and her husband both went through the Great Depression, and every gift she has ever given me was gold or silver. I think the people who went through the depression lost faith in Paper Money, and only Gold and Silver could really be expected to keep it's worth. I am she would want me to have something I will wear and be able to think of her, rather than something that will disappear into a jewelry drawer...forever...
I do not know where these came from, if Danbury Mint made .999 FINE SILVER COMMEMORATIVE Coins for Christmas, they might be from there. There isn't a clue on the coins! Michelle.

Thank you 84eagles, I was so woried about posting this just because, as I said, I feared I would have to defend poor Silver Santa's honor from the negativity of the naysayers, whichtakes the fun out of Listia. I would hope my feedback would show my honesty, it is always hurtful to have people accuse one of deception. I have old world principles, I treat people the way I would like to be treated, NAMELY, I would NEVER steal from anyone or lie because I don't want to get solen from or lied to!! (which has heappened to me so many times on Listia, I, too, am jaded, but hopefully I can find the nice honest people on Listia with experience. Thank you 84 eagle,s for defending Silver Santa!!

Thank you, they just offered to have me do it as a PREMIUM auction, but that costs 1400 credits, they say you get more bids, but I wonder, it'd a stiff price in credits!! Yet I worry that people are wary when it comes to valuable things on Listia. I offered this and hoped it would make people happy to bid on!! It seems that no one believes anyone anymore on Listia!! Thank you for your kind words. What do you think of the Premium idea. Should I go there???

Thank you, I was just getting worried that maybe I shouldn,t have put this on Listia. I was afraid no one would believe it and wouldn't bid. As I mentioned, I got taken advantage of a couple of tmes, but hate to think this beautiful coin will never see the light of day, or will only see the silver melt factory ovens!!! Thank you for bidding, I feel better now!!

I did do the premium auction and it cost 1,400 credits and I have gotten 100 credits since, that was a mistake. Does it show that my auction is not a Premium, because it is supposed to be? Please tell me, as I want to tell Listia if they just decided to take 1400 and not list it as a premium!! I don't think it makes much difference, it just is supposed to attract more bidders, it sure didn't do that!!

That makes sense. Both coins have blank backs except the date, low. I would have thought they would have written the name of the company!! Once again, thank you for putting to bed any accusations that Silver Santa doesn't exist, Yes, little girl, there is a Silver Santa!! I'm very appreciative for your research. Michelle Amieux

jbody150, thank you so much for doing the research. How did you find then? Theyare in a plastic case with a loop, like a pendant, but it makes sense it is to hang from the tree. You are SO KIND!! Thank you. It is awful to be an honest person and be accused of lying. I just wanted to share something cool and a little nicer on Listia, but hit a hail of negativity, it hurt my little feelings. YOU ARE SO KIND to have found out what they were? How did you goolee it? I didn't know what to look for...errr..."1998 Silver Santa"? I couldn't fingd the makers. Thank you thank you!! Michelle

The best photo is the third(?), it's the medium range, you see the .999, The "FINE" and "Silver". Maybe I will try different techniques to take photoos of the small print.

Thanks to a wonderful Listian, jbody150, we have a link to the same coin on E-Bay, yet it is referred to as an commemorative christmas coin ORNAMENT. So this coin is .999 Fine Silver, as stated, and I hope the Listians will appreciate it. It is called an ornament because it is in a plastic case you can hang from the tree. My kitchen scale is wrong, it is 32 GRAMS, A TROYAN ounce, PURE SILVER!!!.

Just out of curiosity, I paid 1,400 credits to have this be a PREMIUM auction, I have yet to see Premium label ever, on any Seasonal or Christmas Grid. A lady pointed this out when she thanked me for not making it a Premium so everybody could hope to win, I told her it was a Premium and she sent me photos, it was not marked Premium, than another lady said it was not Premium, anywhere. Has anyone ever seen this Auction with a Premium label?? I can't believe Listia would have such an overstight, the oversights never seem to benefit the customers!! Does anybody see Premium anywhere? I just want to know if I should write another letter, not that it matters now, but they should refund the 1,400 if it's not marked Premium, which it apparently isn't...I sure haven't found it. One lady has taken photos daily, no Premium. Does ANYBODY see the Premium label on the grid of auctions??? Thank you for your help, Michelle

Yes, if you search on EBay for Christmas Silver Santa Commemorative ORNAMENT Coins, you will see better photos of the .999 Fine Silver. My camera just wouldn't work up close. On E-Bay they range in price from 25.00 to 64.99. I don't know why the difference in price. The backs are left blank for you to engave the person to whom you are gifting. Thank you, Michelle

Ankie, that is so kind!! I want this to go to a Collector and not the horrid silver melt ovens. I hope you have enough to win him. You are exactly the kind of person it should be with, someone who loves Santa, and Silver Santa's at that!! Also, I must say, I have seen other depictions of Santa on these coins(E-Bay), but this is my Fav because it is so close up. You can see the kindness in the face and expression of pensiveness, thinking about all he work ahaed of him, no doubt!! Well, I know a little girl named ankie who just got a couple of "kind acts" points with Santa, no coal for you this year, it will be a great year under your tree. I hear Santa HEARS ALL!! Best wishes and I really wish you the Best on a Win, A Santa Collector, HOW PERFECT!! Michelle

Hey Michelle

You are sweating this. Don't sweat this. You will see the bids blossom at the end. This is the drawback to a lengthy listing. By the same token, a lengthy listing allows many to find and put it on their radar. Here, let me bid and bump it up. My central point stands.
