This is a male DVI to female HDMI adapter, allowing you to stream video (and sometimes audio depending on your setup) from a computer with a free DVI port to a tv/monitor with a free HDMI port. (HDMI cable not included). Turn your tv into a huge monitor, or use this to watch movies you have stored on your computer!! Honestly, I have no idea. It will work with any video card supporting DVI. And so many days, so I can maximize the amount of credits. I haven't been a member long enough for GIN.

That honestly depends on the video card capabilities. These are fully capable of transmitting audio, but the computer has to be able to support it. HDMI/DVI are digital connections, but check with your manufacturer to see if the video card/computer/laptop supports it.

The video I have does 7.1 audio over dvi

For example, my laptop can transfer audio and video through HDMI, but my desktop computer cannot, because of how I have my video/audio capabilities setup.
