I hear one way to test them is to rub your teeth against them. If it feels rough and chalky then they're most likely real.

That doesn't work. I have a set of real pearls from the jewelry store that my father bought my sisters and I and they don't feel rough or chalky. That must be an old wive's tale. Kim
