Description

The listing, Handspun Brown Wool--GORGEOUS! has ended.

Handspun organic yarn of brown wool, from a sheep in Shelburne Falls, MA, perfect for knitting deliciously warm hats, scarves, mittens, or even a sweater.

The wool is slightly variegated in color, which just adds to its charm, and each skein is approx. 55 yards (some more, some less).

This lot includes 4 skeins but I have 32 total. Since an adult sweater requires approx. 1500 yards (worsted weight), you should be able to make an entire sweater from the 32 skeins.

If you are interested in all 32 skeins, please contact me to discuss it further!

This yarn is beautiful! I really hope I win it. My head is spinning with ideas on what to use it for.

TY! I knitted a sample to see how it would look finished, and it was quite nice.

I sure will. However, if you want some significant quantity and can pay by paypal (rather than Listia credits), please let me know! Otherwise, you can just keep watch as I continue to post additional auctions on this quantity of handspun wool.

I usually charge $8/skein, but if you wanted to order 10 skeins, I will drop it to $6/ea. If you were interested in more than that, let me know!

did you spin it? is it plied? out of curiosity, what is the staple? and is it soft or springy? thanks for your time in answering!

Yes, I personally spun this yarn from wool "in the grease" (straight from the sheep's back) and it is 2 ply. It is pretty soft but do not know how to gauge its springiness. If you explain what you mean by staple, I will also try to describe.

annavito is wondering how long the wool was when the sheep was shorn - that's the staple length. Do you happen to know what breed of sheep - that would help folks know what to expect in terms of softness/spring. 220 yards of wool in one auction is a very generous offering - especially with free shipping - I hope it does very well for you. :)

TY for the info... will ask my friend what type of sheep and as soon as I find out, will let you know.
