This is a very "old" book. I have one with a padded cover, and the paper is very thin, and the pages are tied together with string. During the history of this book, it was band from the readers and taken out of the schools, libraries, etc. I'm 65 and my grandmother told me as a child: that the book was against the law to have. Her mom put the book I have into hiding. Granny gave it to me when I was 11-12 years old. Granny was born in 1864, so I'm not sure at what age it was given to her.
Yours is the 1st I've seen in 65 years.
I would say it is well worth insuring!
Thanks for letting me talk about something. Good Luck with your sell. Norma

Interesting info about the book I found on wikipedia: Uncle Tom's Cabin was the best-selling novel of the 19th century and the second best-selling book of that century

To be honest the book is not easy for me to read. It is a very old book and I want it to be enjoyed by some one who can read the southern talk. The only picture on it is on the cover. It looks like it would be a good book but can't understand what they are trying to say. So I stopped reading it . So I hope you will bid on it and maybe you can enjoy it. And thank you for the info about the book.

I found one with exact cover published by Grosset & Dunlap. They didn't have a date on theirs either. Cool Auction! I have never read it.

This is in great condition. I looked on amazon, I google it and still couldn't fine on like mine. But if you say so I will look again. I do know mine is very old it was written in by some one who gave it as a christmas gift in 1909.

I added two more pictures so you could see why I was going by 1909 this is the date it has in it and was given as a christmas gift. All I know is it looks very old and the person I got it from was in their 90's and she said she had it for a lone time this was back in 1987. So all I know is it looks very old.
