Description

The listing, Nolan Ryan Lot with GRADED ERROR and Mothers Cookies 1989 1991 1992 1993 has ended.

This is a lot of NOLAN RYAN baseball cards.
The most important card is the 1989 Topps ERROR. For some reason, in Beckett there are many errors listed in 1998 Topps except for this one. As you can see in the pictures, it has a Jon Perlman back. The Jon Perlman card does not have Nolan Ryan on the back of his card. I have not been able to find anyone to explain this card to me.
Also, there is six Mothers Cookies cards. The 1991 card has some rough edges. The 1992 card in the pack is mint and clean. The open 1992 card has a couple rough edges. The 1993 card in the pack is mint and clean. The other two 1993 cards look mint and clean.
This lot will be shipped in a bubble mailer.

"wrong back" errors are not listed as they are a printing error as opposed to a correctable error. Having the wrong information (wrong postion, wrong hometown, wrong # of home runs) is something that the company might catch and correct in future prinitngs, but wrong backs just indicate that someone was asleep at the wheel. Informational errors collect a listable, traceable premium. No one knows how many different wrong backs a card might have. I have a couple of interesting ones. I have a 1963 Bob Rodgers with a Mickey Mantle front. I also have a 1959 NO front Robetro Clemente. That's right ... the front of the card is plain white, and it's got Clemente's information on back. It's hard to put a price on them, but they're a great novelty. I've paid up to $80 for a wrong back, and seen some priced higher in a shop. The "wrong back"cards occurred a lot more frequently in the 1980s, when card companies were printing more than ever, but they still command a premium for the novelty, as stated before. A Nolan Ryan wrongback should pick up around $5 ungraded. A PSA 10 one would probably pick up round $50. Graded via the grading service used for this card, it should still command anywhere from $15-$35 to the right buyer. If I were putting it up on Ebay, I'd list it at $350 or $35 and field offers. The card itself isn't uncommon, but a graded one is always going to pique a collectr's interest. GREAT card!

Very interesting. I knew nothing about this "wrong back" lore. I'm not to sure about this grading company either. I've never heard of MINT until I found this card. I wonder if there are any double errors out there. Both information and production errors. Now that would be really interesting.

Saw that I said 1963 Bob Rodgers with a Mantle front ... I meant to say Mantle back. I was already thinking ahead to the Clemente no-front.

The value of the older ones comes down to "what someone is willing to pay." I paid $80 for one of those, $45 for the other. I might have bargained them lower, but I was just happy to get them. Really cool cards to have in a collection.
