I won this dress on Listia, but it arrived today and it is too big on me. Here is the original description:

Brown summer dress, 100% cotton, can be worn with or without bra. It used to be a Large but I washed it and I'd say it's about a Medium now. Dumb me didn't look at the washing instructions. It probably won't shrink any more though. Length of skirt from top of high waistband (under bust) is about 37.5 in. Smoke free, pet free home.

Approx measurements:
Bust: about 37-38" I think. It's hard to measure because the bustline crosses in front. (The length across the back, from armpit seam to armpit seam is about 19")
High Waist: about 26", but about 34" with the elastic extended
High Hip: the skirt is about 37" at this point and get fuller from there.

My home is also smoke free. I just got it today, and I´m re-listing because it is not my size.

If you have any questions please ask. I reply very quickly.

It has stretchy waist and lots of room in the hips. I copied measurements from the original auction, but if you´d like me to re-measure anything, please let me know. The dress size is L, but original owner washed it once and it shrunk a bit, but it is a roomy M. I´m more like larger S, small M and it is too big on me.

Hi,
I just measured above solid brown section and it is 28 in laying flat. This solid brown section is separated from other sections above and below by a piece of lace. The lace piece is under 1 in wide. The the lace on the bottom portion of the solid brown piece is 38 in from side to side. Then there are two more sections below solid brown and a ruffle. I hope this is the right section that you wanted me to measure. Please let me know if you want me to also measure the section right above solid brown.

Stunning dress, good taste. I'm sorry it didn't fit you. I'm pretty tall (5'11'') and slender; how long is this dress and is the material in such a way that I could take it in if I had to? (no lace or embroidered areas that might get messed up in the back) F&W regardless. <3

The material is cotton. There is only one section, the solid brown one, that has thin lace strip on top and bottom, but the lace goes over the cotton fabric. If you know how to sew, I'm pretty sure you can take it apart and remove some access fabric. I would not recommend, however, to just 'taking it in' without redoing the seams. The reason I say this is because this dress has under-layer, and so I think it's just gonna feel bulky underneath. (I hope it makes sense what I'm trying to say).

I often 'take in' t-shirts at the waist, because I like when t-shirts are fitted, and in many cases it is easy to do. I just stitch back and front together with the needle and a thread. You will not be able to do this kind of stitching with this dress, because of two layers. Otherwise, you will have four layers, and that's gonna feel funky, I think.

As far as length, I think it would work for you. I'm 5'2" and it goes all the way to the floor. But the width you would have to take it to a taylor to make it work. I normally wear size 4 and it's really big on me, just unwearable. It is definitely closer to large medium. I hope this helps! Please let me know if you'd like me to measure (re-measure) anything.

Check out my other auction. I have black dress that has thin draping fabric. It will look really nice on the slender person. If you wear size 4-ish, you probably won't need to do anything to black dress. But even if you would decide to take it in yourself, with that fabric you will able to do it. And it would probably have a cute length on you. On me it is too long
