Description

The listing, Black Hollyhock x 7seeds has ended.

Black Hollyhock (Alcea rosea nigra) was described as early as 1639 by John Parkinson, as being "of a dark red like black blood" an apt description for the large single flowers that grace this plant in June and July.
Although classed as a biennial, they often live for several years. Mine are in their 4th year, blooms profusely and is over 6ft.
It will form large rosettes of round hairy leaves by Autumn and will bloom the following summer with stalks 6-8ft high. They thrive in full sun and in soils that are not too rich or wet. Mine are in part shade.
Sow seeds in summer or Fall. Zones 5b-10a.
Bloom time Mid Summer-Late Summer/Early Fall.
Do not over water.
Self sows freely.

I said that they will be extra special to YOU because they were your grandma's favorite. These seeds came from my plant last year. I had a type o and meant to say Yours will produce a lot of seeds for future planting. ENJOY!!!!! I'm sorry for the misunderstanding.

Aw thanks. It's fine, I know she's watching over me. When I get some blooms Im planning on taking a few to her grave, and making dolls out of them, since she taught me how to make them.
