Description

The listing, Silk Tree (Mimosa) (10 Seeds) (fs) has ended.

(USE GIN and get 5 extra seeds ) Mimosa tree is from Asia and Africa. It is sometimes called a Silk tree. It grows to an average of 20-30 feet. It is a deciduous tree, which attracts bees and butterflies. A mimosa tree has a single trunk and fern-like leafs with fragrant pom-pom like flowers.
People plant it in their yards to add beauty to their surroundings.
It spreads by animals and water-dispersed seeds. In wet areas, the seedpods float downstream. This enables them to reproduce quickly. The Mimosa grows better in dry-to-wet places. It is able to survive the winter in the southern U.S. but flowers better in warmer, drier climates. The flowers come up from May to July and the fruits and seeds come up from June to February.
Mimosa trees grow rapidly and reproduce easily.
You will receive 10 or more seeds from last years seeds ready to plant for this year along will full instructions on how to plant the seeds and care for the tree. Growing zone 6-10

Are these the plants that are touch-sensitive? The leaves curl up when you touch them?

I am confused about the seeds. Do you soak them before planting and if so how long? Would they grow in Cincinnati? When and how do you plant them in a container of yard? I have a hillside that needs something pretty and would it help to preserve the land there?

Yes you do soak them and I send a complete page about preparing the seeds for planting and how to take care of the tree. I don't know what hardiness zone you are in. Check on the internett for "hardiness zone" for your zip code that will tell you if the tree will withstand the cold in your area. But yes it would be beautiful in a hillside guarden and help to keep the hillside intack. (It would take a while for it to produce a root system that would do that) They are easy to grow in a pot. When in a pot the trees roots are retarded so they don't grow as large. Hope that helps answer your questions
