The listing, Antique Mercantile Match Dispenser has ended.

Antique Stick Match Holder/Dispenser. Advertising/Mercantile piece from the Midwest. A couple of old paint spills were on it when I bought it back in the 1980's and are original to when I bought them.

Questions & Comments

The name of the company on the front is "Minor Outfitting, 305-7 Walnut Street, Phone 488, Atlantic, Iowa, Southwest Iowa's Leading Values & Home Furnishings, Maytag & Philco." It would have held stick matches, and in fact that's what it was used as in my home for a few years. We moved and my decor changed so it needs a new home. Thanks for bidding.

It is made of tin. It is not heavy...the kind of tin they used a lot in the 20s and 30s for merchandising/advertising items distributed to the public.

Really! How cool is that!! Do you work the First Monday Trade Days? If you do (or don't) come by our antique lighting booth in right off Row 49 in Antique Alley...we have parts, chandeliers, shades, crystals, etc. Dan does repairs on all old lighting!
