Description

The listing, Fibromyalgia booklet has ended.

Given to me by my rheumatologist, I thought I would pass it along rather than recycling it.

I was mis-diagnosed with FM, when I actually have M.E.

For many people, they have doctors who are not educated about the different varieties of neurological illness, so you might just be labeled Fibromyalgia.
Be proactive...be aware. Educate yourself...its the only way to survive in our current healthcare system. NEVER rely solely on what ANY doctor tells you.

I dealt with a miss-diagnosis for years before my own research helped me tell my Doctor what tests to do.

Please check out my other auctions - I've listed a lot of things this week!

As I've mentioned in all my listings, in order to continually offer free shipping, I can only mail items out 3-4X a month, which ends up being weekly or bi-weekly.

What is ME? I was diagnosed with FM years ago mainly because my mom has it and it's believed to run in families. At the time I didn't have all the areas of pain needed for diagnosis. Now I'm in much worse pain so know it's something. My neurologist knows something's wrong but after many, many tests is still not sure what it is and won't give me tests normally given to much older people. My dad always had neurological probs and was never given a definite diagnosis.

There are several different illnesses that are so similar - it's a shame doctors aren't more interested in researching things rather than just taking what they learned in med school and that being the end of it! M.E. is also called myalgic encephalomyelitis, and in the 80's a team of top American doctors and insurance company agents got together and changed it to 'CFS', or chronic fatigue syndrome...why did they do this? Because there was an epidemic of people already back them who were suffering from these undiagnosable symptoms, and the insurance companies did not want to cover it anymore because its so completely physically debilitating. By labeling M.E. as CFS, chronic fatigue is listed as 'just a symptom', not a real illness...see what they did?
So now FM or Fibromyalgia is what the doctors like to label everyone with, because none of them know anything about M.E....it is also called CFIDS, or Chronic Fatigue Immune Dysfunction Syndrome...which is what I tell people I have since it makes more sense.
About testing...I went through the same B.S. - I FINALLY found a D.O. who was willing to test me for the more obscure Viruses, and found results, and then she got CURIOUS (imagine, a doctor who thinks beyond their books!) and did tests for obscure auto-immune conditions...and both rounds of tests brought up surprising results...
I also went to an integrative medicine doctor (an MD who also uses wholistic practices) and he tested me for food allergies, and I have 30+, which exacerbate all the other symptoms!

Thank you for all of this information. It's very interesting. I want to speak with my neurologist about this. I know I don't have too many food allergies but I do have sleep apnea, as well as many other illnesses associated with these diseases. My stomach woes bother me the most other than the physical pain. I will look into the websites as well as the reading materials (doctors). Feel good - try.

Finally, and most recently, a doctor ordered a sleep study for sleep apnea, and sure enough, I stop breathing many times in the night, and that causes a NUMBER of problems over time.
I know this is long, and I really mean to write a book about my discoveries for other people, but I just wanted to help you see that there are many avenues to explore if you really truly want to get better, we HAVE to take control and do our own research and read up on the latest news - join the CFIDS website, to get latest research, and read everything you can by Dr. Jacob Teitelbaum! I also now follow Dr. Sinatra's cardiac protocol for Mitochondrial Dysfunction (the very root of why we are sick)..check out all these avenues..
peace & blessings to you on your journey....Holly

Dr. Jacob Teitelbaum - he actually does consulting through his website, and has a plethora of info on these illnesses - he also has a special diagnostic test that you can take and he will order you lab work to be done, and its much cheaper than otherwise. He founded the Fatigue and Fibromyalgia centers - start here: http://www.endfatigue.com/
