Description

The listing, ELEPHANT has ended.

I found this what looks like a bell perhaps,i dug it up with my metal detector. the top looks brass or gold or copper or bronze, and the bottom i think is silver as it is a bit tarnished as you can see in the pics. its a neat little thing if you collect elephants.i only cleaned it up with wet paper towel as to keep it valuable to a collector. thank you!

I doubt that is a real "elephant bell" but you never know, and would be cool if it is. Historically, in India, people would tie bells to to their elephants so the villagers do not get squashed as they are walking through the market.

No it isn't a elephant bell those are round and very big but does it have any makers marks on it anything to tell who may have made it? Sometimes the maker would leave a symbol or mark on the bell heck if it was made in china there would be made in china somewhere lol. Its a very neat bell.

:-)let me check with a magnifier.........nope,no writings or markings anywhere on it, the top looks gold color and the bell part is silver color, the inside where the dinger part is gone, but you can see the part where it was attached.it is quite heavy! i am no expert, like i said, i found it, it is neat, i am just not an elephant collector and out of the blue, i find 3 elephants! :-)

LOL, the dinger is called a clapper. That is a really cute bell; and if wanted bad enough, anyone can invent a clapper for it. =DDD Happy day! =D

What does it sound like if you strike it? Silver has a nice, harmonious sound.. (silver bells)... :-) Also, you can test it with a magnet. If it isn't magnetic, it might indicate that at least it isn't iron or steel.

also, I looked around on a few sites, it might be a candle snifter. Does it have a connector in the top of the bell that looks as if a clapper was attached?

Thanks, this is a very nice object.
