How sure are you it is an aquamarine?? I can't see anything but blue in the stone...I have blue topaz, I WANT an aquamarine =) Any jeweler can perform this test to tell 100% (mine did not charge a dime...in fact she told me blue topaz just by looking, but then did the RI, as it had been represented as such ..and there is a huge difference in cost between an aquamarine and a blue topaz...Beautiful ring, but not what I was told I was buying...

i wish i could say that im 100%, but im not. my ex husband is the one who collected, i just took them from him. im trying to go by memory for which is which. i can say that i KNOW i DO have both. i am just uncertain as to which ones i have in which container. i havent been able to find any jewelers in my area that will even talk to me about them for some reason. its frustrating. i thought this one was lighter of the blue stones that i had, and i thought aquarmarine is the lighter colored, but im not for sure on that either. sorry! i wish i could help more on this. i know they are real, im just not 100% on what kind they are : -/

wow that makes it tough...either can be dark or light, if you have a loup, or a bright light source, look for blue/green (Aqua). It should be apparent and totally different from the blue of topaz..at least it would be a better likelyhood that it was aquamarine if you can see some greenish blue =)

This IS frustrating. i dont have a loop and i tried going by the brightest light i have. i really want to say that this one is the aquamarine, but im uncertain. they are both the same size and both teardrop cut one is just darker then the other. i have been trying so hard to get better pics of the stones. thats why its been taking me so long to put up another auction. its just difficult when i dont have a really good camera.

YES! thank you for understanding that!!! i swear i take at least 10 pics a day of these damn things TRYING to get a clear shot of them! i try all different settings, lights, and even different colored cloth under them! i have even tried using my cell phone, which actually gave me some of the better pics. i just dont know what else i can do to get a clearer pic of them. if you have ANY ideas, please feel free to fill me in on them. cuz im runnin out of ideas FAST!

No. i dont even know where i got those tweezers from, but they do not measure anything. i will however try to find something tonight to take measurements with. please be a little patient tho. it might not be til later before i can get around to it. im moving soon so theres boxes EVERYWHERE!! i wish there was a better way to photograph these it IS beautiful!! the pics are what has been holding me back from doing more auctions too! i really want to auction off my star sapphires, but unfortunatly, you cant really see the stars that well from these pics. sooo frustrating!!

sorry, lost my internet..big wind here. OUCH! I hate moving, I find natural daylight, but not in the sun with no flash works the best for me...but not always lol...some do better straight down, some at an angle..I actually did get the best pic of my garnet ring with the sun hitting it (rhodalite, has bright red fine in it)..hmmm. a star sapphire might actually LIKE flash, some things I photograph in the dark..without flash..yep I feel your pain, I am VERY interested in star sapphires..I had a beautiful pink one stolen grrrrrrrrrr, what colors do you have, are they cabs (flat back, rounded oval front) and how big? well, those are the different ways I TRY to photograph shiny things..seems like it's never the same twice. hope something there helps..

the problem with using natural daylight right now is that at the moment, i live in an apartment with all of 2 windows. natural light doesnt really exist where i live. (it will when i move tho) :) i have tried soooo many different angles, different cameras, different settings on the cameras, flash, no flash, and i can NOT get a good enough pic of them. i have 6 star sapphires (i believe, give or take one or two) almost all of them are black. i believe only one or two of them is blue. they are all the "cabs", like you said (IE: flat back, rounded front. some are oval and some are round in their total shape) they range a little in size, but not too much. i will have to measure them when i do this stone. still looking for something to measure them with. soooo many boxes! lol

Just counted my star sapphires. i have 6 black and 1 blue. i also have a stone in with them that is an EXTREMELY dark blue color. it looks black at first glance unless you see it in the light, then you can tell that it is actually blue. if you have any idea what this could be, i would greatly appreciate it. thanx!

it could be a sapphire...did you get one of those??? I don't know of any other stone that dark, but I am NOT a gemologist, I assume this is a faceted stone?

i am completely unsure about this stone in every way! i know how much you want a sapphire, but i do NOT want to say that this is what it is. i have NEVER seen one THIS dark before and just like you, i am NO gemologist.it im VERY skeptical about auctioning this one off at all mainly because i know sooo little about it, and just by first glance it looks like black onyx but i KNOW its not.

yes, I do lol...wish you knew for sure. It has been a long time wish *sigh* perhaps someday =) Please let me know when you list your tigers eyes, I love black AND blue...just need to know size...I have enough scrap silver to have a setting made I think....(the one I had stolen was in a very simple silver setting...had it made in Mexico on our honeymoon, I have missed it

i will have them listed before the weekend is over, granted i can actually get a pic of them that doesnt make them look like a black or blue blob. lol and i will try to have the measurements up before tomorrow if i can find something to use. lol...hmm..maybe theres an app for that! LOL

Ok. i found an app for that! its about 1cm length, 0.68 side to side, and roughly 0.32 width. i hope this helps. its probley not exact because it is just from an app on my phone and its actually really difficult to measure anything that small on a cell phone. i hope that helps some. :)

its really pretty. im sure whoever gets it wont be disappointed. i held it up to natural light this morning and it does have a greenish hint to it. so im REALLY thinking it is aquamarine.
