AS PROMISED!!

The ORIGINAL DARK SHAWDOWS SOAP OPERA CLASSIC STARRING JONATHAN FRID AS RESIDENT VAMPIRE AND LORD OF THE MANOR,
BARNABAS COLLINS!!!

This set of 14 VHS tapes is a great lot of some of the earlier episodes with Barnabas Collins and the family at Collinwood. In these, Vampire Barnabas is after Victoria Winters with plans to turn her into his former wife Josette. Also the ghost of Sarah (Barnabas's little sister) shows up to foil the plans of Barnabas trying to kill Maggie Evans and David. Dr Julia Hoffman discovers Barnabas is a vampire. These episodes also go back in time to collinwood in the 1700s The volume numbers are #11, 12, 13, 14, 17, 18, 19, 22, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31. It is mostly a straight run but a volume or two are missing but it should really not interrupt the flow of the stories. I think these scary episodes will be just as enjoyable to watch for old and new fans alike because you need to revisit the old to enjoy the new! The original Dark Shadows also featured werewolves, zombies, man-made monsters, witches, warlocks, time travel, and a parallel universe WITHOUT special effects!! A small company of actors each played many roles (as actors came and went, some characters were played by more than one actor). These were formally rentals and boxes show a little storage wear. Tapes play just fine nd can be transferred to DVD if you'd like.

I haven't seen the Johnny Depp/Tim Burton film yet, but I understand Jonathan Frid made a cameo appearance in the film. His last, before his accident that ultimately led to his passing.

Before Interview with the Vampire, Twilight, and True Blood, Jonathan Frid (who played the original Barnabas Collins) made vampires sexy and sympathetic.
Jonathan Frid recently passed away on April 14th of this year at the age of 87 from complications from a fall.

I used to rush home from school to watch this show back in the 60's. The original show on DVD for the whole collection sells for upwards of over $600.00!
I have a VHS, but not a cleaner for it. I'm afraid to put the tapes in there for fear of damage. Let me see if I can find a head cleaner ....I'd love to have these!

I know!!!! When I first heard talk about the movie I found these at an estate sale and I knew they were going to capitalize on the movie and I wanted to be sure I could watch the originals. After I bought them I had them transferred to DVD so now I can watch them whenever I want. By all means try a head cleaner and try an old tape and see if it will work.
Good luck to you...Just think when this series first aired, 80% of the technology we have now didn't even exist!!! Sometimes I miss the simlicity of the "good old days." lol

I think for everyone who watched the originals it was so dramatic and you couldn't wait for the next episode. Turning it into a comedy just doesn't do it justice but the movie was funny.
