SIBERIAN- Purple stripe hard neck variety. Can get very large depending on soil conditions. Extremely cold hardy! For zones 5-9 This is super tasty garlic! Holds up well for about 5 months after harvesting and I have seen this variety sell by bulbils (not cloves)at 8oz for $10-$15.00!
CHESNOK RED-Gourmet delight! Purple stripe hard neck has won MANY garlic taste tests around the world! Retains flavor well. Cloves can go for $9-10.00 and up just for 10-20 cloves!
20 each of bulbils offered.

Yum :) How long do they take to mature? Do they overwinter ( zone 6) or do they die during a freeze?

Garlic should be planted as early in spring as possible or later in fall BUT what I do when I have the bulbils or cloves at a time when it isn't the best for planting, is to plant them in pots until fall then transplant to garden area. The top growth will appear next year (if you plant in pots now, they will more than likely have top growth and you just water as to keep the soil from drying out until fall to transplant) If planting in garden now, the top growth will grow but will die back and you will think they have died but do not dig up soil! I did this a couple of times and found out later they were busy growing roots and bulbs. They also need a cold time and your winter will be fine for them. With bulbils, it will take a couple years to produce cloves but well worth it the wait!

I've always heard fall planted garlic is better? So much so, that the garlic I planted this spring spent it's first couple of weeks, then the nights of the next month in the fridge! But we won't know for a few more months!

Fanned and watching! And is this for 2 bulbs of each or 20? Thanks for a great auction!

These were for bulbils (seeds) but after seeing the auction start off like this, might just dig some cloves up. I do have one whole head of cloves of Chesnok Red aprox. 8 cloves in that, could put in this auction, just depends on the auction.
