The listing, Very Very Old Roman Spear Tip has ended.
1500 to 2200 year old genuine ancient Roman Spear/Arrow Tip. Shaft of tip would be slid down a hollow Spear/Arrow Shaft To make removal from person very difficult and shaft was reusable. Interesting piece of history and very real. this Tip is about 10 or 11 inches long. Definite conversation piece.
It's something different than the same old stuff that's for sure! It honestly is the real thing. I am told that they are one of the most common items left from that time period and not valuable just something different to put out on you coffee table as a conversation piece.
For this one and the others you are not selling you should go back to the museum and see if they kept the records of sale. They should have but...... The spear tips would be much more valuable to you with that.
It looks very nice and I totally agree believe its real as its mounted so nicely and in a manner suggesting a museum shop's presentation. I didn't realize these were so common and its cool to learn something new every day. After rereading Hardy's The Mayor of Casterbridge, I learned what I overlooked the first time around (in high school): the residents of his fictional -yet based on non-fictional, Essex (Wessex) were accustomed to unearthing skeletal remains of Roman legionaries. Similar to the spear tips being found all over the former Empire- Super Cool! Thanks for listing!!!!
To be honest this is my first listing so I thought everyone did it? If you have Paypal it will be easy I'll pack it up real good so it gets to you safe after i pack it i'll measure the dimensions and weigh it then i'll go on line with the post office put in that info and your zip code. Oh and i'll need to send it with a tracking # so you know that I sent it to you. Once all thats done you pay only what it costs to send it to you no handling or anything. If you don't have paypal you can either sign up for it (it's free) or just send me a check or postal money order. Now wasn't that easy?? umm no...
Well for my first listing I thought I would put something on that people don't see everyday. My next listing is going to be a really interesting fossil that will knock your socks off, assuming you like fossils I guess! lol
No I'm sorry to say that there isn't. I bought it years ago at the Buffalo Museum of Science when they were selling some of their non-displayed items. I will give you a guarantee that if there were any doubts I would provide a full refund. I bought about 5 of them at the auction but this is the only one in a display case. It's very nice.
This is very cool. I have 3 ancient bronze Etruscan statues about 2500 years old I need to sell. Need to find a good auction house though because I'm really hoping to cash in on them
Would you like me to find you an email address of a fellow that I know. He is a buyer and seller of antiquities and may be of help to you? Just let me know. Sean
I sorry but I cant tell you until I box it up weigh it and get your zip code. If it helps you though it will weigh around a pound and my zip in Niagara Falls NY is 14304.
As many of you have guessed we are new to Listia. We are honest people and believe 90%+ of others are also. You will get the item that we post and never something fake or broken. (no junk) you always will have the option of returning anything you get from us if you are unhappy with it. So you have nothing to lose!
To be honest I don't know exactly, there packed away in a trunk in my attic but I would guess perhaps 5 or 6 more. I only wanted to buy one as a conversation piece but they came in a small group. It's been years since I bought them but 5 or 6 more is pretty close I believe. My wife says she feels like we live in warehouse 13 and some things have got to go. lol
