Description

The listing, Prickly Pear Fruit Cactus Seeds (10) has ended.

This auction is for 10 prickly pear cactus seeds harvested from my own cactus (in the potted picture above). The cactus will put out yellow flowers, which when germinated will produce small red fruits. These fruits taste very much like kiwis and will make an excellent jam! The cactus will grow more and more fruits each year (as well as more lobes) and you can harvest the seeds to grow even more! Add some rhubarb to the jam and it will make a nice strong jam that goes great on pretty much anything!

These seeds are fresh, so they may take some time to germinate, but they will (and given the weed-like nature of this cactus, you'll get a high yield!). I've taken the first step in germinating these seeds (washed ALL pulp off the seeds and dried them). When you receive the seeds, you'll need to soak them in acid (orange or lemon juice will do) for several hours, them wash and soak in water for several more hours. Plant these directly from the water into the soil on the surface, gently pressing them into the soil. Don't worry, when you win, I'll give detailed instructions on what to do with them! Following the instructions included with the seeds should shorten the germination time to 2-6 weeks, but it still could take longer. No worries though, I can stay in contact with you until they germinate!

If you want to know anything else, please feel free to ask!

*** Someone has been making comments on my other auctions of these that they contain mescaline... This is completely untrue. SOME species of this cactus contain TRACE amounts of it, but not this one. And even in the amounts that these other species contain, getting high from them would be like getting drunk of Pepsi: Pepsi has trace amounts of alcohol, but the amount needed to get drunk would literally explode your stomach... Basically, nothing about this cactus will get you high...

*** I'll be putting up a few more sets of these in a couple days, so don't worry if you don't win!

Yep exactly! The biggest issue in Canada would be the amount of light it gets during the winter, but these are pretty hardy, growing wild in Michigan, so I'd think you could make it work!
