1943 S Nickel "War Nickel". These are made of 56% copper, 35% silver, and 9% manganese. This nickel is very dark. It is because of the maganese in it. The picture is not the actual nickel that I own. The nickel I have is darker than the one shown and is a bit worn but you can still see everything except the fine detail on building on the back of the coin.
