The listing, Simple Spells For Love, by Barrie Dolnick has ended.
From Booklist:
Stop that eye rolling! Stop it right now! This book is lots better than you think. Oh yeah, there are spells in it, like one, for instance, that involves Thursday during a waxing moon, purple candles, mirrors, and bowls of water--that sort of thing. But there are also excellent chapters on the ways in which our self-esteem encourages others to appreciate our value or discourages them, on the need for space between romances so that unresolved issues from one do not afflict the next, and on the strong likelihood that real love won't come in the packages we predesign. All of this is very good, commonsense stuff that we can never hear often enough, and the kind of person who checks out this book may well need Dolnick's hard-nosed but kindhearted advice more than the spells. (By the way, that spell mentioned earlier? It attracts romantic prospects, should you need them.) Patricia Monaghan
