If his console doesn't read disks, the laser has been knocked out of its tracks. You need to pay to fix it, fix it your self, or get a new Xbox. This HD is to store memory.

yes I do know what a hard drive is lol too funny really but I get where you were going with that haha. yes he dropped it so ok the first thing I will check is his laser eye and hopefully it didnt break it ughh but can complain really I got it for him back in um 2007 so he has had it for a while and im surprised he didnt break it sooner but her is almost 21 and should be over the toy bashing age of teenagers that dont take care of their crap haha

um yes I know that what I was asking if this was just like a hard drive(Plug N Play)? I looked at my sons and yes it is, Im just not sure if his hard drive went out or if I just need to clean it, Im thinking he did some damage internally to it though as he dropped it lol so I can take it apart and see what is rattling in there and maybe I can fix it as I am very mechanically inclined when it comes to computers and such. almost nothing I cant do with them! so I was just asking if this would slide right into his console? yes it will I answered the question myself when I checked his out and seen his slides right off the top!

Even if you install the game to the drive, you will still need the disc to play. Craigslist has people that can do that kind of work, drives are very cheap.
